During teenage, Abby had to go through a severe accident that had a massive impact on her life. While practising for her volleyball matches, at Xavier College Preparatory, she hurt herself. A ball hit her straight in the eye, breaking the bone and unfortunately taking her eyesight off one side.
Leaving her partially blind from the right side, the injury required two surgeries for her to recover from the accident. The right side of her eye has to be replaced with a prosthetic, which eventually looks real but cannot bring the lost eyesight.

Eye injury led Abby to pursue a Broadcast Journalism degree at the University of Southern, California. In May 2016, she graduated and fully focused on making a fruitful career in journalism. Before graduating in 2014, She was a production intern for the San Diego Fox Sports station.
